Heteronuclear Coupled 13C Spectra

Heteronuclear Coupling of Carbon to Fluorine-19

Heteronuclear 13C-19F coupling will be observed for all organic compounds containing C-F bonds. The one-bond coupling constant 1J is in the range of 165 - 370 Hz. Longer range coupling can also be observed, and this two-bond coupling constant 3J is in the range of 18 - 45 Hz.

Figure 22 shows the carbon-13 spectrum for 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (CF3CH2OH).

Heteronuclear Coupling of Carbon to Phosphorus-31

Heteronuclear 13C-31P coupling will be observed for all organic compounds containing C-P bonds. The one-bond coupling constant 1J is in the range of 48 - 56 Hz. Longer range coupling can also be observed, and this two-bond coupling constant 3J is in the range of 4 - 6 Hz.
